Title

A34 Milton Interchange Improvement

From Tuesday 13 January traffic management will maintain a minimum of two lanes on the roundabout and approaches throughout the scheme.

On 24 January traffic management will also be introduced on the A34. More details of the arrangements on the A34 will be provided shortly.

On 12 January work will begin on a £11m scheme to provide additional capacity on the roundabout at the Milton Interchange. One lane will be closed and two lanes remain open at all times around the roundabout.

Fixed traffic management systems will be installed on the A34 on 24 January.

The scheme will enhance Science Vale’s connections to the national road network by improving the operation of the area’s gateway to the A34.

The project has been designed to enable the local road infrastructure to meet the demands of the forecast increase in jobs and traffic in the area, resulting from an additional 14,000 homes and 16,000 jobs expected by 2029.

The interchange will benefit from a new ‘hamburger’ style roundabout layout, which will take traffic from Didcot travelling westbound on the A4130 through the centre of the roundabout and then onto the northbound A34 towards Oxford and the M40. The Milton Park Link will also be widened to four lanes eastbound on the A4130 and on the A34 slip road southbound.

Work is planned to be complete by Spring 2016
