Title
A40 Wolvercote and Cutteslowe Travel Bulletin - 12.2.16
Traffic information
- On the A44 Southbound from Pear Tree roundabout to Wolvercote roundabout lane 1 will be closed for tree trimming on 15 February between 9.30am and 3.30pm. The bus lane will remain open.
- A40 westbound traffic from Wolvercote roundabout towards Cassington will be diverted over night between 22 and 26 February. This is to accommodate resurfacing work on the eastbound carriageway with eastbound traffic being temporarily diverted onto the westbound carriageway (to travel towards Wolvercote roundabout). Westbound traffic will be diverted via the A44 to Pear Tree roundabout, along the A34 southbound to the Botley Interchange and then on to Eynsham via the B4044.
- A40 Northway eastbound will be closed overnight on 27 February. This closure is required for us to undertake our traffic management switch where we will be moving the working area from the verges into the central reservation. The diversion for this closure will be via the A44 to Pear Tree roundabout, onto the A34 southbound and around the ring road.
- A44 Woodstock Road northbound will be closed overnight on 12 March in order to move the working area from lane one into lane two and the central reservation. Traffic will be diverted via the A40 Northway, Banbury Road northbound to Kidlington roundabout and then along Frieze Way.
- All overnight closures will take place between 8pm and 6am and cycleways will remain open for all closures apart from the A40 Northway where the cycleway diversion remains in place.

Latest news
Work is progressing well and remains on programme. All the major roads through Cutteslowe and Wolvercote roundabouts are open to traffic apart from when specific temporary closures and diversions are needed.
Our team are working in a number of locations in this 1.25 mile work site. At the moment the teams are largely focussed on the A40 arms of both Wolvercote and Cutteslowe roundabouts and the A44 northbound of the Wolvercote Roundabout.
The traffic management – cones, barriers and signs - is there for the safety of the public as well as the workforce and sometimes needs to be far in advance of where we are working to move traffic away from those areas. The traffic management also must follow the sequence of work within the available space, which means that we often have to make space in one area in order to work somewhere else, for example we had to remove the central reservation on the A40 before we could start work on the road widening
Cutteslowe
Both the westbound and eastbound kerb lines on A40 Northway are being installed to widen the road. Resurfacing of the footways will continue in the next few weeks. The foot/cycle ways are scheduled to re-open mid to late March. Utility work on the roundabout is ongoing and is on target to be complete before our team returns to the location.
Work to widen the north-west corner of Cutteslowe roundabout (Sunderland Avenue/Banbury Road) will begin towards the end of February.
Wolvercote
On the A40 eastbound we are working on widening the road to accommodate additional lanes on the approach to the roundabout. The A44 northbound footway work is progressing. Ducting and street lighting is now complete and the widening works continue.
