Traffic management

There will be local road closures for five nights starting on 15 Aug. The closures will be in place from 8.30pm until 6am.

The map below shows the affected area and diversion routes.
 
The closures are needed so that the team can carry out remodelling and resurfacing work on the roundabout.
 
There will also be nightly lane 1 closures on the A34 southbound from 15 August for around eight weeks to tie the new off-slip into the main road and from 30 August for around six weeks lane 1 on the Northbound will also be closed nightly. These closures will be in place from 8pm - 6am.

Latest progress

The team have achieved a great deal in the last few months and the site is really taking shape as you can see from the photos.

At the moment work is underway on the Pegasus crossing near Townsend Road.
On the western roundabout work has been completed to allow partial  vehicular, with all splitter islands complete. Thames Water are currently working on a water main diversion. Fencing has also been installed along the northbound on slip and a “Grasscrete” layby is being constructed.
 
On the eastern roundabout the team is undertaking lamp column and signage works and fencing is also being installed out. Over on the southbound off slip another Grasscrete layby is being constructed.  
 
The existing mini roundabout has been widened with kerbing and block paving and a diversion is currently in place around the eastern roundabout for access to A34 southbound on slip. Work on the footpaths is ongoing with, underground plastic pipes installation for future services to be completed at night. Southbound off slip tarmac and drainage channels at side of road installed.
