The Oxford Brookes Social Entrepreneurship Awards (OBSEA) have launched again, with a variety of Masterclasses covering all the topics you might need to launch your own social venture! What Next?
Starting next week on Wednesday 4 November the OBSEA team are running the Idea Generation workshop which will be run by Andy Cramphorn from Fire Cactus - a leading London product development and innovation agency. An interactive session, you will learn some of the techniques that you can apply to develop the central core mission and trading model for your social enterprise or innovation project. The session will be preceded by a 30 minute explanation of how the Oxford Brookes Social Entrepreneurship Awards programme works. On Wednesday 11 November, Social Sciences Principle Lecturer Richard Huggins will be running a session about key social issues in and around Oxford. This is gives you an insight into homelessness, health and well being, deprivation and exclusion that exists here in Oxford and is intended to help you formulate your ideas and think about groups you are trying to help. At the centre of any social enterprise has to be the notion that you do things for people in order to address their issues rather than things to people based on a preconceived assumption that you know what is needed to address an issue. This case study approach is designed to make you think about the central mission of you social enterprise. The session runs 5.30 until 7.30 in room JHBB 202. Book you place here
Wednesday 18 November sees introduced a new interactive session session this year aimed at both people who are developing their social enterprise proposition and those interested working in the social enterprise sector perhaps as a volunteer or who are interested in working as a team member on an interdisciplinary social innovation project. You will be able to discuss your ideas with staff and colleagues through a peer review session, hear from from colleagues about opportunities for volunteering and be in at the start of an exciting new initiative aimed at developing a social innovation project that you will have the chance to shape and set up.
