Superfast Broadband Update
You may be aware that the council has provided additional funding to the Better Broadband for Oxfordshire programme to extend broadband coverage across both South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse districts.
The delivery of the additional district funded coverage is now underway and runs until December 2017. You can find out the latest plan for your local area by using the postcode checker below.
Please note that the map is not able to identify remaining coverage issues at a premises level and there may be some gaps in coverage. As the Better Broadband team has achieved savings in delivering the first phase this could be available to help plug coverage gaps and we are therefore keen to hear from communities or areas where there are still issues to help us identify specific problems (contact details below).
Cabinets that went live recently include Stanford in the Vale Cabinet 2 which covers Childrey, Goosey and West Challow in Vale of White Horse District. In South Oxfordshire two cabinets in Wheatley (9 and 10) have been fibre enabled. Both cabinets now have a large sticker declaring 'Fibre broadband is here', indicating the cabinets are live and ready to take customer orders.
An extra 155 residents / businesses in these areas will now be able to request an upgrade to fibre-enabled broadband from a range of Internet Service Providers (ISPs). In most cases, this means that residents can select a product offering download speeds above 24Mb/s following infrastructure upgrades made via the Better Broadband for Oxfordshire programme.
