Oxford Business Breakfast: Skills Agenda
OxLEP co-hosted a business breakfast meeting this morning at Modern Art Oxford along with the Oxfordshire County Council and Oxfordshire Skills Board. The agenda included introductions from Nigel Tipple, Chief Executive of OxLEP and board members Councillors Ian Hudspeth and Bob Price. Service manager for Economy and Skills, Richard Byard outlined the Skills Agenda for Oxfordshire and gave an update on the county's employment statistics and expected growth figures. He was then followed by Oxford Apprenticeships manager Sara Cullimore who introduced the attendees to the Apprenticeship schemes available around Oxfordshire and Helen Haines and Rebecca Moore from the Opportunities to Inspire (O2i) team who explained the service available and demonstrated the need for businesses to engage with Oxfordshire's education providers more. The final speaker was Terry Watts, acting principal of Activate Learning, who gave an update on the results from the Activate Learning Group and outlined their ambitions for further education within Oxfordshire.
