Latest progress
The project to transform the square is approaching completion and most of the square is now open. The final slabs are being laid, and one of the final jobs is to complete the road markings and test the new lighting around the square.
Businesses and shops on the square are very much open and accessible and now, with much of the work complete, is a great time to see how things look and what is on offer.
The council’s contractor, SKANSKA, has installed a large Christmas tree with lights to mark the end of the project in time for the festive season. Lights are being added to the tree at the moment and another set will be switched on to mark the end of work in a couple of weeks.
