Traffic information
How work is going
Good progress is being made and the work is currently running to schedule.
Work on Cutteslowe roundabout itself will start again in the new year as the team has completed the removal of the island and moved on to other tasks as planned. The team will return to this location in the new year to start building the new roundabout island.
At Cutteslowe northern and southern kerblines are being installed to widen the road with the footways behind continuing as well.
Also at Cutteslowe the majority of new lighting columns have now been installed and work continues to fit replacement LED lights.
Work is now largely focussed on the A40 arms of both Wolvercote and Cutteslowe roundabouts and the A44 towards Peartree.
At Wolvercote the A40 the southern foot and cycleway has been re-opened following extensive re-kerbing and surfacing – signs are in place to indicate the right route to take. The site team has now moved on to the northern footway to start work on widening the road and divert utilities to accommodate additional lanes on the approach to the roundabout.
On the A44 northbound side the footway is beginning to take shape with significant widening and signals ducting work already undertaken.
- Traffic is generally flowing well but journey times through the area will be longer, particularly at peak times
- Routes to and through both Cutteslowe and Wolvercote roundabouts are open during the work
- There will be an overnight westbound closure of the A40 between 8pm and 6am on Friday night (4/12) to move the work area onto the northern side – a diversion will be signed
- No will be no other traffic management changes before Christmas, with work being undertaken continuing until 23 December and re-starting on 4 January
