Roadworks Update: A40 and A44 Cutteslowe and Wolvercote

Project update

The widening of the A40 and the A44 at Wolvercote roundabout continues. Contractors are currently laying the drainage and the kerbs near the petrol station and will begin the resurfacing towards the end of February/beginning of March.

Work to build the shared footway/cycleways along either side of the A40 Elsfield Way is also being done at the moment. So far they have excavated the existing paths and diverted utilities.

Contractors are currently laying the edge of the new footways ready to resurface them in the next couple of weeks. These footways are closed while the work is done and they will let you know nearer the time when they will reopen.

Once this is done they will move back into the central reservation and traffic will travel on the newly resurfaced outside lane.

Reshaping Cutteslowe roundabout

Work to reshape Cutteslowe roundabout will begin early March and we will provide more information on this in the next few weeks.

At the end of January we will begin the road widening to the corner of Sunderland Avenue east and Banbury Road north. During this time pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained but will take a slightly different route around the work.
