Title
Could you be the next Governor for Abingdon & Witney College?
Abingdon & Witney College is in the top 10% of Colleges nationally, and is Oxfordshire’s most successful College. Recent capital investment of £24 million has transformed our learning environments and specialist vocational facilities. In 2015-16, the College has been awarded a prestigious Queen’s Anniversary Prize for our unique training programme for the equine industry, combined with the commercial breeding of thoroughbred horses. They have also won an “FE Oscar”, an Association of Colleges Beacon Award for our work in preparing students for the workplace.
Now they are planning to strengthen the Corporation Board through the recruitment of a finance specialist, preferably a qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience. In doing so, they are keen that the Board presents the best possible representation of the catchment, and encourage applicants from black and ethnic minority communities to apply. The Board conforms to the College’s aims to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Typically the Board meets four times a year, at 6pm for 23 hours. Governors also join one Committee, also meeting 3-4 times a year for 2 hours, usually starting at 6pm.
For an informal discussion, please contact the Clerk to the Corporation Governors, Ruth Reavley, on 01235 216369, ruth.reavley@abingdon-witney.ac.uk. More information about the College can be found at www.abingdon-witney.ac.uk.
