Traffic Management
- The A44 southbound is currently down to one lane in order for us to be able to carry out the works in the central reservation.
- Following a review of the works and the progress made, we will be opening the road up to two lanes overnight on Friday 29 April. These lanes will be narrowed to allow for the works to continue in the central reservation. More information here.
- Banbury Road southbound (towards Cutteslowe roundabout) is being narrowed to one lane during off-peak hours to allow works to happen in the footpath.
Update
Work is progressing well on the Wolvercote and Cutteslowe improvement scheme.
On Cutteslowe, the work in both verges on the A40 Elsfield Way has been complete and we're now working in the central reservation. The work in the central reservation involves excavating the existing carriageway, installing new drainage and constructing the new central reservation barrier. The access to Jackson Road eastbound will remain open during this time.
We are also working on the footpath along Banbury Road both north of Cutteslowe roundabout and to the south of the roundabout. This work will be ongoing for the next couple of weeks
Work has started again on the main roundabout works at Cutteslowe. At the moment we are removing some of the material from the centre of the roundabout and over the next few months we will be reducing the size of the roundabout, installing drainage and installing kerbs. The new roundabout will take a new, smaller shape, which will then allow enough room for the extra lanes to be constructed.
The work is progressing significantly on the A44 central reservation. Over the last two weeks, since the work began, we have removed the existing central reservation barrier as well as the kerbs. We've also begun excavating the existing carriageway where the new central reservation will be and installing the new drainage and kerbs. The island crossing close to Wolvercote roundabout it taking shape and will soon be filled in and surfaced.
There will be no work on the bank holiday Monday.
