Opportunities up for promotion at job fairs

A wealth of employment opportunities will be advertised this September as local agencies and businesses come together for Banbury and Bicester job fairs.

Employers will be promoting vacancies at Banbury Job Fair on 14 September and at Bicester Job Fair on 28 September.

The fairs are open to people of any age, background or employment status and are free to attend, no appointment necessary.

Cllr Lynn Pratt, Cherwell's lead member for estates and the economy, said: "Our job fairs bring hundreds of employers and jobseekers together and have helped many of our residents take the next step in their careers.

"In a world where job applications are increasingly made online, face-to-face contact can often set candidates apart. This is a great way for those looking for work to talk informally to employers and discover types of work they might not previously have considered.

"They are also an opportunity for jobseekers build relationships with employment agencies so that they can be notified of future job postings."

The job fairs are free for businesses and jobseekers to attend and will feature opportunities from a wide range of sectors, including retail, security and office positions. They are run in co-operation with Jobcentre Plus.

The National Careers Service will be on hand to offer free CV-writing help and advice and there will also be the chance to learn about apprenticeships for young people.

Banbury Job Fair takes place on Wednesday, 14 September and runs from 4pm to 7.30pm. The venue is Banbury Town Hall.

Bicester Job Fair takes place on Wednesday, 28 September and runs from 5pm to 7pm. The venue is Bicester Library in Franklins House.
