Access to Headington travel bulletin 11.11.16
Latest news
The work on Access to Headington is progressing well at the junction of Old Road-Roosevelt Drive-Warneford Lane-Gipsy Lane.
The team are currently working on two diagonal corners of the junction, improving the drainage, diverting utilities and realigning the kerb to allow for the widening of the carriageway. The traffic continues to be manually controlled using four-way traffic lights and is constantly being monitored to make sure it continues to flow.
The footpath on the corner of Old Road and Roosevelt Drive remains closed with a diversion in place for pedestrians.
Safety - help us keep the site safe
Since the project began traffic lights, barriers and signs that are being used as part of the project have been moved a number of times in the middle of the night, putting road users, cyclists and pedestrians at risk.
Our engineers have been called out several times to find traffic lights tipped over or turned the wrong way round and barriers knocked over in the road causing severe disruption to those traveling through the junction.
The traffic management is in place to protect our workforce and the public and is set up with everyone's safety in mind. We would request that if you see anything happen or know of anyone that maybe causing this vandalism that you report it to the police via the 101 non-emergency number.
The map at the end of this email shows the traffic management we are using at the moment.
