OxLEP reacts as BMW confirms electric Mini will be built in Oxford
Following the earlier announcement (25 July) from BMW that a fully-electric version of the Mini will be built at its Cowley plant, OxLEP offers its reaction to the news:
Richard Byard – OxLEP’s Director of Business Development – said: “This announcement is excellent news for everyone involved, not just the hundreds of BMW staff based at Cowley, but for the wider Oxfordshire economy too.
“It reinforces the message that the county’s economy continues to be in excellent shape and has the capacity to rise to the challenge of a post-Brexit economy.”
“In Oxfordshire – we have continued to grow our economy dynamically, with the creation of 45,000 new jobs over the past five years. We hope this announcement from BMW – a world-leading car manufacturer with a huge presence in Oxfordshire – will further boost the county’s growth ambitions.”
