Transport Minister Norman Baker officially turned on Chargemaster’s POLAR network on May 15^th with over 60 charging points available for users in the Oxford area.

Chargemaster Plc has partnered with Oxford City Council, Oxford County Council, Oxford Brookes University, Nissan and Hertz to make Oxford one of the worldwide centres of excellence for low carbon motoring.

Hertz announced its electric car club – “Hertz On Demand, powered by POLAR” where up to 10 Nissan LEAFs will be available for hire for an hour or day. They will be based at various city centre locations.

At the launch Norman Baker commented: "This scheme puts Oxford in pole position to lead the country in introducing electric cars."
