A joint bid by Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council for Government City Deal status has been submitted to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

If successful the bid will bring devolved powers to the county from central Government as well as millions in additional funding to drive economic development within the county.

Areas that stand to benefit from increased investment include, transport, housing and improvements to major roads to relieve traffic congestion. A decision by Ministers on Oxfordshire’s bid is expected by mid-February.
