Science Vale is based around the three centres for science at Harwell, Culham Science Centre and Milton Park, and is home to the highest concentration of multi-million pound science research facilities and research and development activity in Western Europe, making it one of the most successful science hotspots in the UK. In order to capitalise on Science Vale's investment and job creation potential, the Vale of White Horse Local Plan has concentrated new housing, employment and infrastructure growth in the area. Given the significant amount of change taking place in Science Vale, the council is producing a Science Vale Area Action Plan to support the delivery of the strategic sites in the local plans. This will be a positive planning tool that will help shape, coordinate and deliver sustainable growth across the area. It will add to the policies in the local plans and provide more detail about sustainable development that supports the vision for Science Vale. Vale of White Horse District Council will be consulting on the issues facing Science Vale and the scope of the area action plan between Friday 27 February and Friday 17 April.
